Tourism and Economy in Stockholm
Stockholm is popular for being the world’s cleanest cities. It is also known for being the home of exquisite architectures and museums. At present, Stockholm ’s tourism is playing an important role in the city’s economy. Stockholm is known for being one of the cities that houses the most number of museums in the world. Belonging to the 70 museums in the city is the National museum which has a collection of about 16,000 paintings and 30,000 handicrafts. Visited by nine million visitors every year, tourists who were attracted by these museums have contributed a lot in Stockholm ’s economy. Annual festivals such as the Stockholm Jazz festival and the Stockholm Marathon also attract tourists to come and visit the city.
The city is also Sweden ’s financial center for housing the kingdom’s major banks, insurance companies and stock exchange. Eighty-five percent of jobs in the city are under the service industry, with almost a total absence of heavy industries that makes the city less polluted.
